Whether it is a routine eye exam, cataract or corneal surgery, or an ocular surface procedure, Dr. Zaki spends time with her patients to help them better understand the potential outcomes of therapy or surgery. She is able to relay this information to her patients in a caring and easily decipherable manner. Her ability to connect with her patients on a personal level and to explain the complexities of the eye are unparalleled.
Dr. Zaki incorporates all of the latest technologies into her practice. She specializes in ocular surface disease/dry eye, diseases of the cornea, and corneal and cataract surgery. When it comes to cataract surgery, she is able to offer her patients an array of surgical options to truly customize their vision. She is well versed in Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery, advanced technology lens implants, presbyopia correcting lens implants, and the Light Adjustable Lens. She also routinely handles complex surgical cases.
Dr. Zaki grew up in upstate New York and graduated from The University of Michigan, with a degree in neuroscience. She received her medical degree at The George Washington School of Medicine. Upon graduation from medical school, she completed her ophthalmology residency at Boston University and was selected to be the Chief Resident. Finally, Dr. Zaki completed her fellowship in cornea, anterior segment disease, cataract, and refractive surgery at the esteemed Baylor College of Medicine, Cullen Eye Institute in Houston, Texas. Dr. Zaki is involved in research and has published research papers, case studies, and a book chapter. She continues to be actively involved in her profession both locally and nationally as she has served as the president of the Phoenix Ophthalmological Society and presents at local and national meetings. She has received numerous awards for her contributions and outstanding patient care. She is a member of The American Academy of Ophthalmology, The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, The Cornea Society, and American-European Congress of Ophthalmic Surgery.
