Antique Malls of the East Valley: A Weekend Guide
by Vintage Vamp
Mesa, Chandler, and Gilbert host some of the Valley's best antique destinations.
The East Valley's antique mall circuit — concentrated along Main Street in Mesa and scattered through Gilbert and Chandler — offers one of the best day-trip options for serious vintage shoppers in the Phoenix area. Higher density, diverse inventory, and lower overhead than the Scottsdale corridor mean more merchandise at better prices.
Antique Centre on Main Street in Mesa is the flagship destination: 20,000 square feet of dealer booths organized by specialty. The furniture section tends toward solid American pieces from the 1930s through the 1960s. The kitchen and household section has the kind of vintage Pyrex and enamelware that collectors actively seek.
Rustiques Antiques in Gilbert has the best mid-century furniture inventory in the East Valley and occasionally produces pieces that would sell for significantly more in Scottsdale.
Old Town Antiques on Main in Mesa runs a dealers' co-op format with rotating inventory that rewards regular return visits. The book section is consistently underpriced relative to condition.
Best strategy: start early, bring cash, allow three to four hours minimum.
