The City of Peoria Department of Economic Development Services is dedicated to helping businesses find qualified employees through valuable networking and recruitment opportunities.

Employers are invited to participate in the City’s upcoming Hiring Event on Thursday, September 17 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Rio Vista Recreation Center, 8866 W. Thunderbird Road, Peoria. This free event brings together employers and motivated job seekers in one convenient location, making it easier to fill current openings while building relationships with future employees.

Free Workforce Resources That Support Peoria Businesses

In addition to hosting hiring events, the City of Peoria partners with Arizona@Work to connect businesses with workforce solutions that help recruit, train, and retain employees.

Arizona@Work provides employers with recruitment assistance that may include matching, applicant screening, skills assessments, hiring support, and customized workforce solutions at no cost. These services help businesses streamline the hiring process while connecting with qualified candidates.

Arizona@Work also offers several programs that can help employers invest in their workforce.

Incumbent Worker Training (IWT)

The Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) program is a federally funded grant that helps businesses strengthen their existing workforce by reimbursing eligible training expenses.

Qualified employers may receive up to $50,000 in reimbursable training costs per fiscal year, with up to $5,000 per employee. This program helps businesses enhance employee skills while reducing training costs.

On-the-Job Training (OJT)

The On-the-Job Training (OJT) program allows employers to hire individuals who have strong potential but need additional training for a specific position.

Participating employers may receive reimbursement for up to 50% of a participant’s wages during the training period, with reimbursement amounts of up to $5,000 per participant and a maximum of $50,000 per company each fiscal year. The program helps businesses develop employees with the exact skills needed for long-term success.

Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC)

The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a federal tax incentive available to employers who hire individuals from certain targeted groups that have historically faced barriers to employment.

Depending on eligibility, employers may receive tax credits ranging from $1,200 to $9,600 for each qualifying employee, helping offset hiring costs while creating opportunities for individuals entering or re-entering the workforce.
